WHO ARE THEY?
Young Visionaries Initiative 2009/2010 is a PBOX (Project Based on Exchange) managed wholly by members of AIESEC in Universiti Malaya.
Young Visionaries Initiative 2009/2010 is a continuity of a project born in year 2003 by AIESEC in Universiti Malaya. It is aimed to bring better changes to less fortunate children in orphanages and shelters within the Klang Valley.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
1) Development Internships
Our development internships involve foreign interns who are eager to participate in a wide variety of issues in community development. Through this internship, orphanages will be taking in our Exchange Participants who will volunteer in the orphanages to help and to teach the children basic skills and languages.
2) Activities
We have designed some activities for the development of the children in the orphanages. Planned activities include craftworks, tutoring, games, sports and tours to places beneficial for the children. Our activities are scheduled to start twice a month from January 2009 to April 2009.
WHY DO THEY DO IT?
Our main objectives are to present a wider perspective for the less fortunate children in the Klang Valley, to involve youth in social responsibility, and to bridge the connection between the society and the children.
WHERE?
Our utmost priority would be the independent orphanages and shelters not funded by corporations and NGOs. Young Visionaries is a programme managed wholly by members of AIESEC in UM with the assistance of volunteers from the public and our very own AIESEC’s international interns carefully selected to facilitate the project in Malaysia.
Currently working with: Agathians Shelter, Assunta Children’s Society, Trinity Children Care and Rumah Shalom.
HOW DO THEY CONTRIBUTE?
There are many fun-filled and educational programme being held on a weekly basis at every shelter. This is done by the AIESEC members, the interns and volunteers that came to bond, learn, teach and lend a helping hand.
We find alternatives to make these children’s life as rich and have the equal chance to be brought up just as well as the many other children out there.
